Teams could protect 7 Forwards, 3 Defenseman and 1 Goalie OR 8 Skaters (forwards/defense) and 1 Goalie
Teams must expose at least 2 Forwards, 1 Defenseman, and 1 Goalie (unless a team only had one)
All players with a 1st or 2nd contract were automatically excluded from draft pool
Trading was open for a two week period prior to protections being posted
